Is it California Prop 65 compliant?
We believe that heavy metals—even so-called ‘natural’ ones—can have detrimental effects on human health. Therefore, we test every batch for heavy metal contamination with the best lab equipment - ICP-MS.
It is important to distinguish between the industry standard and California law in regards to heavy metal levels. The general standard of the food and supplement industry is based on a percentage amount (PPM - parts per million), and companies are allowed to make their own standards, they typically range between 10ppm and 1ppm.
However, California law is based on the amount per serving. The same product with a high heavy metal load can be Prop 65 compliant at a reduced serving size. Therefore, we consider percentage limit (PPM) a stronger indicator of ingredient quality, and we have established our limit to the lowest level possible—1ppm—rather than simply reducing the serving size to make it appear uncontaminated. This amount can found in the best-grown produce.
With that being said, with a limit of 1PPM and a serving size of 10+ grams, we can sometimes end up with a batch that is not Prop 65 compliant, but it is always within our quality limit and only exceeds with a trivial amount of the limit for California Prop 65.
